Teachers on the elementary math committee met on early release day, April 9, 2008, in Linda Schmidtendorff's room.  Present were: Linda Daniels, Shari Nevins, Pam King, Kathy Parker,  Grant McCrimmon, and Linda Schmidtendorff.

There was discussion of the availability of a Saxon end-of-year test for lower elementary grades.  The Saxon representative had informed Linda that there was a test suitable for such use on one of the computer disks provided by Saxon.  Teachers are awaiting assistance from the school's technology expert to load this disk on our computers.  If an acceptable test is found on the disk, grade level teachers will decide if they want to use it or continue with the teacher-made test we  have used in previous years.

There was discussion of the announced changes in the MEAP test for next fall.

Linda reported on items of interest from the last Curriculum Council meeting.  At that meeting there were representatives present who demonstrated their product, Smart Board, to the staff.  Linda explained how this product could be used in the classroom.  She also reported on changes for next year in the procedures for choosing new textbooks.
