The math department met on November 14, 2007, in Linda
Schmidtendorff's room. Present
were: Linda Daniels, Shari Nevins, Kathy Parker, Linda Schmidtendorff, Steve
Proctor, Chad Podolak, and Dave Sheahan.
Elementary teachers discussed the new Saxon program. Linda Daniels requested that play money
be purchased for the kindergarten classes. This is a part of the Saxon program that was not done in
kindergarten in the previous version.
Play money is needed to teach this concept effectively.
Mrs. Nevins reported that first grade is looking for sample report
cards. They want to change their
report cards and are looking for cards from other schools to review.
High school teachers discussed the practice ACT test which will be
available this year.
There was also discussion of the need for another math class,
possibly a statistics class.
There was considerable discussion of the tri-mester schedule which some schools have adopted. Pros and cons of this kind of schedule were discussed at length.
