Math Meeting Minutes

September 9, 2009

 

Members Present:  Steve Proctor, Matt Schoensee, David Sheahan, Jessica Arnold, Linda Daniels, Grant McCrimmon, Shari Nevins and Linda Schmidtendorff

 

Meeting was called to order:

 

First, each member at the meeting introduced themselves and explained their current teaching assignments.

 

Dave Sheahan             Advanced Algebra, Two Block Advanced Algebra and Trig.

Steve Proctor               Geometry, Algebra One and Two Block Algebra One

Matt Schoensee           8th Grade Math

Grant McCrimmon      4th Grade Math

Linda Schmidtendorf       4th Grade Math

Jessica Arnold             2nd Grade Math

Shari Nevins               1st Grade Math

Linda Daniels              Kindergarten

 

 

Updates and Concerns:

 

Elementary:     4th and 5th Grade math books are worn. Not sure if they will last the two or three years until our next textbook purchase.

 

                        For next meeting it was suggested that members would look for some good websites for math programs that are appropriate for grades K-2?

 

Middle School:

 

                        Teachers have been working on GLIKÕS assessments and using data to improve lessons and tests.

 

High School:

                        Discussed formative assessments and an update on teaching positions (next year) concerning highly qualified.

 

Assessment Meetings are scheduled with Ashley Schools at the Ionia RESD on November 3 and 4th.

 

                        High School Members on this committee for math are Steve Proctor, Matt Schoensee, and Dave Sheahan

 

                        Elementary Members are currently Darrell Postma with two more members to be named later.

 

Future Meettings Agenda:

 

                        Topics were next discussed about future meetings. After a brain storming session of possible topics the group decided that next months meeting would focus on our current educational equipment. Each member would bring a list of inventory of supplies. We will also discuss possible technology improvements.
