Special Education Committee Minutes

October 14, 2009

Call to Order:  The meeting was called to order at 2:05 by Nancy Bongard

Attendance:  Janae Yeomans and Nancy Bongard

Update  on Special Education Issues:  The Procedural Safeguards Booklets for parents are now only online.  Copies should be printed on an as needed basis.

Procedures for 3 year re-evaluations and the paper work involved were discussed at length.  The new REED forms are involved with this process.

Medicaid billing and practice of the process of billing was postponed until the November11, 2009.

Future:  Committee needs to find the answers to these questions:  Do 504 students count as a student on the caseload of the special education teacher and are 504's accepted by colleges as a request for special help in college.
