The Technology Committee met on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at
2:10 P.M. in the high school media
center. Those attending were: D. Thompson, J. Hughes, C. Laplander,
H. Malek, P.Bearden, J. Barnaby, and J. Heinlien.
Items for discussion:
1. Elementary Printer
access - The printer located in the "wire room" is not easily
accessible. Since the room is always locked, this seems like an impractical
location for a printer. J. Heinlein will talk to Mrs. Cherry about relocating
the printer.
2. Website updates - If there is anything that needs to be put on
the website, it should be sent to J. Barnaby.
3. High School/Middle
School concerns - Things have improved in the business lab. However, a teacher
station is still needed in the business lab. Mrs. Bearden has been providing technology support to
enhance Middle School and Special
Education curriculum. She will be
attending a Blackboard conference soon and plans to help teachers coordinate
technology and curriculum.
4. Elementary School
concerns - Some educational games are blocked. J. Barnaby said he would be able
to get them unblocked if we let him know about specific sites that concern
us. C. Laplander asked about the
typing curriculum being used by the fifth grade. Some discussion followed concerning the merits of various
typing programs.
5. There are
currently no new developments in our district technology plan.
Meeting adjourned at 3:12 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Joy Heinlein
