The Cardiovascular System!

Directions:

To help you better understand the circulatory system, you should know that the cardiovascular system consists of two components: The heart, and the blood vessels.  The heart pumps blood so it can flow to the tissue capillaries and lung capillaries, the blood vessels are what blood uses to travel to different parts of the body.  The human heart is about the size of a fist and is on a slant inside of the body.

Specifications:

To know more advanced functions about the cardiovascular system you must know about the specifications of all the parts.  The heart is a hollow, cone-shaped, muscular organ about the size of a fist.  The base of the heart is the widest part and it is superior to its apex, which is the pointed tip.  The heart is on a slant; the base is directed toward the right shoulder, and the apex points to the left hip.  The base is deep to the second rib, and the apex is at the level of the fifth intercostal space.  The heart is enclosed by a two-layered serous membrane called the pericardium.  The heart has four hollow chambers called atriums.  It is also very important to know that heart transplants are available but are EXTREMELY RISKY!!!! A heart transplant is a last resort option and is normally only used in emergency situations.

Operation:

The cardiovascular system plays a major role in the human body because it moves blood throughout the entire body and gives all body parts oxygen.  The heart performs four main functions: 1. Keeps the O2-poor blood separate from O2-rich blood;  2. Keeps the blood flowing in one direction—blood flows away from and then back to the heart in each circuit; 3.  Creates blood pressure, which moves the blood through the circuits; 4.  Regulates the blood supply based on the current needs of the body.

Safety/Maintenance:

The heart is a very valuable organ and must be taken care of in the most careful way possible, do not eat fast-food because it is very fatty and can clog the arteries that lead to and exit your heart.  If too many fatty foods are consumed then the user will be in danger of having a heart attack, which can lead to death.  To prevent things like this from happening you should eat a balanced diet of foods daily, exercise at least once a week, only eat fast-food once a month, and get a check up every year.

Troubleshooting:

If problems occur and you believe that you may be suffering from a heart attack remember to stay calm and call 911 as fast as you can.  If you believe that something may be wrong with the way your heart is working then call a hospital and schedule an appointment quickly if you think the problem may grow quickly.  The heart can be taken care of easily so to prevent problems from occurring you should always remember to stay away from fatty foods and work out at least 3 days of the week.

Options/Upgrades:

Sometimes the heart will fail itself even if the user treats it good and does everything correct.  Upgrades are available to the user but they are limited and can be very dangerous.  The replacements should only be used as a last resort option or when it is the only thing left to do.  Replacements include a pacemaker, and an artificial heart.  The replacements do have downsides to them because the artificial heart is practically life support and is not the most reliable thing to have, a pacemaker can also fail or the timing can be off which will cause irregular heartbeats and can harm the body.

Roadside Assistance and Customer Support:

Options are limited for roadside assistance and customer support.  The hospital is the number one choice for emergency situations and intensive care.  There are some hospitals that specialize in heart treatment but the user must be in dire need in order for them to be accepted into a hospital such as that.  Some good hospitals or treatment centers are:
